Accessibility Statement

Universal Access
The National Consortium on Leadership and Disability for Youth (NCLD/Youth) is committed to making information accessible to everyone. Accordingly, every effort has been made to ensure the content of the NCWD/Youth website is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. The site complies with the U.S. Federal Government's Section 508 guidelines and, in addition, the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)'s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0), Priorities 1 through 3. The site design, content and features evolved from several rounds of user testing. Multiple types of potential website users and multiple types of disabilities (e g visual impairments, cognitive impairments, etc.) were taken into account as the site was developed.

Accessibility Features:

NCLD/Youth makes every effort to ensure that the NCWD/Youth website is universally accessible. Alternative text is used in describing graphics and hyperlinks contain summary information versus non-descriptive hyperlinked titles. Pop-up windows are not used to display information or other websites. In addition, distinct document types are labeled clearly (e g MS Word, PDF) and an accessible version of the information contained within our documents is always available. The designers at NCLD/Youth keep current on issues pertaining to web accessibility and to modifications made to accessibility standards.

NCLD/Youth, as a youth-led project, is also very aware of language accessibility issues and making sure that the language we use on this site and in our documents allows them to be accessible to youth with a variety of disabilities If you encounter any difficulties using or have suggestions for improving the site, please let us know .

Alternative Formats:

The NCWD/Youth website has been optimized to work with multiple versions of multiple browsers including Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator and Opera. It is always recommended that users upgrade to the most current version of whatever browser/browsers they use.
